Why do we plan lessons?
Why is it important to plan a class?
It’s merely appropriate that teachers follow lesson plans. The lesson plan helps you avoid simultaneous issues during class, so you can focus on what students need and you do not lose time finding tasks or activities that fulfill what you do not have at that specific moment in class because of no planning ahead.
Most of the times when teachers improvise, the chosen materials or tasks are not appropriate, and then if you design a lesson plan it is good lesson design which begins with a review of previously learned material. Therefore, you will have two types of learners: “ESL Absolute beginners are students that have had no (or very little) exposure to English lessons or the language in general. On the other hand, false beginners have been exposed to some formal or informal English language lessons yet have not acquired any functional grasp of the language.” Kris Jagasia.
Furthermore, these considerations are based on student diversity. However, facts indicate that a student who has the chance to identify, recognize and put to work his skills with appropriate guidance (teacher’s instructions) enhances his or her learning process. Finally, lesson plans are the spinal column of teaching around the world, if we skip that important step we are planning to fail.
